Where did I mention subways? Reread my post. I was talking graffiti overall. And yes, Barcelona was soaked in it across the city WAAAAAY before NY experienced the same thing.

again, if i'm saying something that is not true, factually incorrect, whatever you want to call it about ny, somebody correct me. if not then keep it moving. if you don't have facts to back up what you're saying then you have no argument.
So now I'm ATTACKING your age? And the fact that you supposedly support America?

Extreme provincialism is an ugly thing, eek. Again, this only proves that you are not capable of NY not being the world leader in absolutely every single category that exists. Period.

Google is your friend. Do your own work, but I know it will make absolutely NO difference to you.

lol @ this. so now i'm supposed to do your homework for you?

you make a statement, one which you have not backed up, and expect us to believe it because...?

anything i say i make sure i can back it up. anybody posting on CD thats familiar with my posts will tell you that even if they don't agree with what i'm saying, i always have an image, youtube vid, article, personal testimony, etc. to back it up. there are usually others that back up what i'm saying as well.

in other words: "we don't believe you, you need more people"

I also have the rep around here for not making things up, and do not lie. And when I'm wrong, I will gladly acknowledge it. I'm not wrong here.

I'll let you have the last word, as always. NY is the supreme, untouchable epicenter of the entire universe, and we should all bow down. There.

Yeah, johnatl, just put up a date, then. When did you see this Barcelona graffiti movement?

In the mid-70's, when I was a young kid in the Navy. I had never seen anything remotely like it, including New York. I found it fascinating, and sickening at the same time (primarily because beautiful monuments around town were covered in it).

I was later told by locals that a lot of it had to do with the Basque seperatists. Spain was a much different place then.

a few things stand out from what you said...

mid 70's? thats around the time of the golden era of the graffiti movement in nyc...so what you're saying doesn't make sense. modern graffiti had already been around before then on trains and walls in nyc (and other american cities).
that and political graffiti is not equal to modern graffiti (meaning handstyles, bombs, pieces, wheatpasting, etc.)

again, i just showed you pics from the early 70's, let alone the late 60's.

i will look for more.
