The maps offer a nice visual comparison for when people compare boroughs to cities. I've seen thread where people argue over how the amenities/diversity of NYC are packed into compact spaces, so when I saw this, I gained a better appreciation for whether these statements were true (case by case) or not.
Wow that certainly puts things into perspective, and NYC is a huge city (physically). But it looks worse than it actually is considering it's NYC's city limits vs immediate metro areas as opposed to other city limits.
Still very interesting though, thanks for sharing.
Lol, wow. It's one thing to read numbers and imagine it, and another to see like a real visual. I couldn't have imagined a city physically bigger than NYC when I was lil, look at like LA, Chicago, Detroit, Phoenix and Dallas-Ft. Worth in comparison.
It really puts things into perspective too. Just to look at those other cities and then think that 8,400,000 people live in that space, and with 1,600,000 in Manhattan, 2,300,000 and 2,500,000 in Queens and Brooklyn, 1,400,000 and 500,000 in the Bronx and Staten Island. And think of all the stuff all the boroughs have in em. And can you believe 2,700,000 people once lived in Manhattan? That's awesome lol.
