Okay since a lot of people consider these hybrid systems, it makes sense to have them compete in a thread.

Below is a geographically accurate map of each system, showing the exact locations of each station and how long each line really is. Each map is zoomed out to scale at the exact same point.

WMATA:
WMATA map (DC area subway) - Google Maps

BART:
Bay Area Rapid Transit - Google Maps

MARTA:
MARTA (Atlanta subway) - Google Maps

Makes may take up to 30 seconds to load up so be patient.

So given the coverage of area each system based off those maps, which one is the most efficient?

Clearly DC. Overall one of the best I've seen.

Since all three are hybrid systems, there are two ways of looking at this:

Best for the respective city proper:

1. WMATA
2. MARTA
3. BART

Best for the surrounding 'burbs

1. WMATA
2. BART
3. MARTA

The clear winner overall is WMATA. They're second only to the NYC Subway in terms of ridership.

I tend to agree with this mentality.

I vote for Washington DC in every thread I go to. This one is no exception of that.
