Anybody know what the status is regarding Nashville's Medical Mart?
Not sure how close they are to securing the deal...but I don't think they'll be able to break ground until the new convention center opens. The Medical Mart is supposed to be on the old (current) convention center site.
Cleveland's reasserting itself as a Midwestern powerhouse, including developments from its downtown out through its huge University Circle medical complex. All this development will make it even more of a contender in the expanding medical field.
I'd say Cleveland since it's actually building and has a great hospital in the Cleveland Clinic and a good hospital in UH already in the city. Nashville doesn't really have anything comparable...
...however I have to admit, I'm still sort of confused as to how this is a major advantage over a a convention center.

Nashville has Vanderbilt, which I would say is a great hospital, as well as several others. Mind you, Nashville is also home to HCA, which is the largest private hospital operator in the world. So I would say we do have something that is comparable. The healthcare industry here contributes more than $18 billion to the local economy...3x more than the music industry does (to give you some perspective).
Cleveland is positioned much better here, especially since its actually building. Plus, Cleveland owns the better location, better city, better amenities, better culture, etc.

I would have to absolutely agree with the aforementioned statement. Nashville certainly is an up and coming city; however, it can't stand up against a city like Cleveland ... a much older, culturally endowed metropolis with far better amenities.

So what is the timeline for Nashville's Med Mart to break ground??
