For me, easily Vegas, followed by South Beach. Times Square would be last; in my 27 years living in Manhattan, I may actually end up there <5 times a year; far more exciting place in the city to end up.

I would have to say Bourbon Street. The history, quirkiness and the fact that real people live and work there every day is what puts it over the top.

Not the Vegas Strip because it there is no working neighborhood, it is a concentration of amenities on one street in an otherwise bland city.

Times Square is kind of boring, too disney-fied, Manhattan is way too interesting to waste your time in Times Square.

Sunset Strip is lame and an industry machine. House of Blues, Roxy, Whiskey, all super lame. I wouldn't be caught dead seeing a show there. The Troubadour is the only worthwhile venue in the area. This is basically where all the weirdo GLAM kids in LA hang out. It is a working neighborhood though so it gets points for that IMO.

Never been to South Beach so, yeah can't say much about it.

If that is your criteria, then Times Square would win hands down. Probably 20x as many people live and work near Times Square compared to Bourbon Street.

It's just part of the criteria. I prefer to be able to drink on the street, which combined with other factors pushes Bourbon Street to the top. Don't worry, I put Time Square above the Sunset Strip!

Ugh. Times Square reeks to me of Vegasy nonsense; fat tourists stumbling about with plastic shopping bags and taking pictures. You can guess how I feel about Vegas.

Personally, the desire to drink on the street inspires nothing in me beyond marking another box on the AA checklist. In my years, I've never had any difficulty getting drinks in Hollywood. It has a uniquely perverse mix of glitz & dive, old(er) & new, aspiration & depravity. Its not entirely dependent on lost visitors dropping money on gambling or blatant, explicit corporate monotony. History shows more non-country, popular musical acts seeking to break big try it here before anywhere else.

And not only is "Sunset" is the only other strip listed, it inspired the term itself.

That is exactly why I am not interested in the Sunset Strip.

I just think it is fun to be able to walk around and drink. I am glad it's not legal in here in Hollywood. I prefer my own "strip" of Hollywood Blvd, and think it is infinitely more interesting than the Sunset Strip.

Based on your comments, you'd probably like South Beach the most. Make a point of visiting.

It will happen eventually. My wife has read too many Carl Hiaason books so she is hesitant to visit Miami.

To each his own. I used to get a kick talking to musicians from all over the globe. In moderate doses, starry-eyed ambition can be refreshing.

TBH, I conflated Sunset and Hollywood; parallel and so close.
