- Less surface parking lots
- More dense and urban setting
- Residential population
- Parks
- Attractions
- Dining scene (formal and upscale dining options)
- Food scene (Food scene is casual, breakfast, lunch, and informal dinner)
- Theater (Cool theaters, if any)
- The better street scape (Views of the buildings in the skyline)
- More lively feel
- Natural scenery (if any is visible from here, or if its in the location)
- School options
- Safety
- Nightlife
- Bars
- Benches and public seating areas
- Architecture
- Waterfront
- Anything else I may have missed

There is an Oakland section of Pittsburgh which is a major part of Pittsburgh. It's major enough in fact to be considered the 3rd largest CBD in PA.

I like the Oakland in Pittsburgh versus downtown Pittsburgh, too. As a comparison. It's sweet.

I think I would take Oakland in either case. I find those downtowns to be more diverse and lively.

I'd like to visit Pittsburgh one day but a 500 mile roadtrip is a bit much. Seems like it has some interesting neighborhoods and I love cities with hills (I used to live in a small city with some steep hills and loved the views).
