I think Chicago wins this one by a good margin. Toronto has no unique character, it's pretty much just what Detroit would be today if it hadn't gone downhill.
Not true. If Chicago, New York and Detroit had an orgy I feel that Toronto would be the child. I feel like Toronto draws characterstics from all those cities and puts them into one.

I've always thought the same thing. Toronto's alright...it has a lot of good restaurants, it's probably the best music scene in Canada, it has lots of neighborhoods and people from around the world, but the city itself just somehow manages to have nocharacter at all. Just totally bland feeling...
was staying with a friend in river city a little south of the sears tower. i remember a music festival nearby called lolipoloza or something, bunch of angry looking white kids walking all over the place.
walked to northern part of loop on a few nights but never came across anything cewl. he drove me somewhere one night but i dont know where i was high or something
I think Chicago is more diverse. The white population is very diverse as well, and Toronto is nowhere near as Polish, Irish, Jewish and Italian.
Chicago's population is absolutely not more diverse. Chicago is 80% Americans and only 20% immigrants. Toronto is 50-50 Canadians and immigrants. It's not close.

Where are you getting your facts that Toronto has less Polish, Irish, Jewish, and Italian people? Please share your source. I know for a fact that Toronto has way more Italians. It probably has more Jewish and Polish people as well. Don't know about Irish. There are WAY more people in Toronto who were born in Eastern Europe than Chicago. I don't know where you're getting your numbers from. I think you're making them up.
