I have heard that Dallas has trees and quite a few (my impression was that it didn't). I have never been to Raleigh -- east coast has a lot of trees obviously -- minus development. Has anyone been to both and (minus size) -- overall impression? Cary can be included too I suppose.

I doubt Dallas has more trees. I think Raleigh is in the peidmont, right. Dallas does have trees but they are short and parts of the land can go miles without trees because its a transition zone.
I've been to both and Raleigh has way more trees. It's like Atlanta where the land is mostly trees and developments are carved out of the trees with trees all around. However "prettier" is more subjective and I don't find endless trees pretty for a city.
Raleigh definitely has more trees and I'd also say it is more attractive, but Dallas has some beautiful areas. Overall, I prefer Dallas. More amenities, diversity, opportunities, attractions, etc. This should be expected those since the DFW area is like 2 times bigger.
