People should learn the definition of country. I'm from Waco and it's not even a 10; so I don't know how the hell Houston is a 9 or 10. If you're going to make far fetched claims like that; at least post a reasoning for it.

Most of Houstons inner loop is a grid, not super dense but not "country."

There's no way that LA is more urban than Houston.
Urban=City
Urban=\=Dense, walkable

Why yea LA is more urban than Houston. Far more dense and walkable as a matter of fact.

Agree 100% - honestly Houston has similarities in development but with half the developed density. Houston is a very large and expansive metro with many great attibutes but urbanity relative to many other cities is not the strong suit. I am constantly amazed by the Houston argument of we prefer the more spacious lifestyle and yards/single homes yet then also argue that the area is just as urban as more densely developed areas. It cant be both. Now there are areas that are obviously more urban feeling but as a whole this is less cohesively urban than many other similar sized metros save DFW and Atlanta; most apparent closer to the core

I mean Staten Island has a higher population density than the inner loop of Houston. Most in the northest would consider SI mostly suburban in feel; especially realtive to the the sorrounding areas

And also to Annie - much of the City proper really doesnt feel like a city at all - Yes the inner loop and closer in areas give this feel but the majority of Houston proper really does not

And I do believe there are different levels of urbanity. i am not saying Houston is not urban, but there are different levels NYC is more than urban than LA which is more urban than Houston etc. It doesnt mean better but there are varying degrees associated with urbanity and I really think especially in the sunbelt what passes or considered "city" especially on the expanse of borders is really many times not city at all. Is Houston a city, yes, do 2.3 million live in areas that feel like a city, no - probably 1/4 to 1/3rd of that population lives in areas that actually feel "city"

Urban pertains to a city, I live in sub-urban Houston (Uptown/Westchase), it's not anything like Katy, which is fully un-urban. I still "feel" like I'm in the city, just not the inner city.
