What were the criteria T&L gave to its readers for voting? At first glance, Charleston seems to be the outlier.

LOL, there is more advertising for Charleston in that magazine than any other I have ever read.

interesting mix of big cities and just "pretty" cities, and some combo of the 2. Not bad for a tourist magazine I guess

Charleston and Savannah are "always" high on this list which makes me think T&L editors/voters were high when they made this list.

I definitely think all of these cities are worthwhile seeing, so I can't say I disagree with the list.

There are a lot of cities worth seeing though. Charleston's a fine city and all, but outside of the central area I don't really see what is so particularly special about it. Same with Savannah--a perfectly lovely city and worth a visit, but among the top ten places in the country? This list, like most lists of this nature, is somewhat dubious.

The same cities always rank in the Top 10 with little variance over the years.

I wonder, what other cities can do to improve the experience of visitors? Or at least to impress them enough to think rate them highly during these surveys. You'd think Vegas or Orlando would do very well because they are tourist meccas.

Truly Savannah is one of a kind in this country. Perfect grid. unbelievable parks, squares, etc. It is a jewel this country should be proud of.
