The mansions on River Rd. and side streets in Montgomery County Maryland run for Miles. How does this stretch stack up to the Atlanta Metro Area's West Paces Ferry Neighborhood. Use google maps so people can make an overhead comparison of the size of these homes. Make sure you explore the side streets and get a feel for all the houses in these areas. Compare:

-Size of houses
-Design of houses
-Median Income level of area
-Popularity of the strip
-Famous Residents
-Financial Strength of the area compared to the rest of the metro

Totally different vibe. Paces Ferry homes near Governor's Mansion have a true "Old Southern Money" feel to them. It's a smaller stretch of land than those along River Road...Potomac's mansions, which have much, much, more land and a pastoral feeling. Potomac is much more rural than West Paces area as WP is right near Buckhead and Midtown so it's more of an intown feel.
I'd almost compare Potomac mansions to those you'd find in Atlanta's Crabapple area, which is north of the city, in Alpharetta.
Can't really comment on celebs living in either place. Lots of them in both.

I get the same impression. More comparable to Potomac are the houses in West Buckhead along Garmon, Mount Paran, upper Northside and Powers Ferry Road.
