Thanks to some of the insight that I received from different people, I have decided that I am interested in this stretch of coast land. I currently live in central PA but am from Philadelphia. I am also African American and a lesbian so I am looking for both ethnic and lgbt diversity. I will soon be graduating with a masters degree and will be looking for employment/a nice place to settle down with my partner. I was wondering what cities would have the full package in this area. Wilmington, Beaufort, Elizabeth City, VA beach, Charleston, Savnnah, GA islands, etc. MY ideal location is very close to the beach, gay friendly, ethnic diversity and good job prospects. I am not interested in FL.

I am also interested in some of the GA islands like Tybee island area and Brunswick GA. Has anyone ever lived there? If so, what are your experiences?

Another place that may work is the Rehoboth Beach DE area and into the Eastern Shore of MD. Rehoboth Beach is known for its LGBT presence and it is close to the Eastern Shore of MD and VA Beach is a little over 3 hours away. Dover DE and Princess Anne MD in the Eastern Shore have HBCU's too. Salisbury MD is another Eastern Shore community with a state college.

Rehoboth Beach is actually in the Salisbury metro area: Salisbury metropolitan area - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tybee Island is very gay friendly with several lesbian-owned business, restaurants, bars, guest houses, etc. and Savannah has a large and very open GLBT population ...
