This article skews East. There are tons of great small towns in Washington, Oregon, and California, and those states are under-represented (while Wisconsin is over-represented)

Agree on those aspects there are great little towns all over the US really. Newtown (though a great little town) for example isnt even my personal favorite in the Philly area alone

Two small towns I think deserve mentioning are Petaluma, CA and Marfa, TX.
