Among the Largest Metro Regions, these were the 5 Whitest in 2008....
Non Hispanic Whites, 2008
Minneapolis-St Paul-St Cloud, MN-WI 82.4%...2,935,653
Boston-Manchester-Nashua, MA-RI-NH 79.5%...6,003,963
Cleveland-Akron-Elyria, OH 76.2%...2,202,548
Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia, WA 73.2%...2,994,406
Detroit-Warren-Flint, MI 70.0%...3,751,117
It's kind of funny when you consider a lot of times people thikn the "whiter" regions are richer/safer...in 3 of those MSAs, that's true (Minneapolis, Boston, Seattle)...but in the two others (Detroit, Cleveland), poverty and crime run rampant.

The figures he quoted were for the Metro Regions, which with the exception of the city proper's are generally very safe. The cities of Cleveland, Akron, and Detroit themselves are less than 50% white.
Going by a source on one of those other threads Milwaukee and Pittsburgh have the whitest suburbs among the top 40 metros while Portland does have the whitest core-city.

This isn't fair to Cleveland. Removed - don't attack other posters

I always find it interesting that the people in the US often associate being "White" as being non-Hispanic. European Americans (meaning both North & South) can speak a variety of languages but mostly English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Yet, when asked to consider what's "white", we probably mostly only think of those people who speak English or French as a first language. If you speak Spanish or Portuguese, you're not really considered "white". In Miami, I am part of a tiny minority of non-hispanic whites. However, if one gets by his/her preconceptions about ethnicity, one realizes that most of Miami is as "white European" origin as many other cities in the US.

Well, except that most Hispanics that come from Mexico and South America are mixed European and Native American ancestry.
