IMO, Seattle can feel like either San Francisco or Portland depending on where in the city you go. You'd easily be able to put an area like Capitol Hill in SF, while an area like Wallingford or Fremont definitely feels a bit more like Portland. On the whole though, it really is somewhere in between the two, with the geographic commonalities obviously favoring the "larger Portland" side of things.

I will say that parts of the East Bay, especially in North Oakland (Temescal, Rockrirdge, etc.) and Berkeley definitely has more of a Seattle feel to it than does the city of San Francisco itself.
This is spot on.

If you can grasp that concept.

Darn. I was just about to start this thread when the Boston/Philly/Chicago thread got revived, but apparently it already exists.

It’s too bad the poll closed. In 2020, I get the impression that Seattle is more like a small SF than a large Portland.

I feel it’s a larger Portland than smaller San Francisco but I wouldn’t argue against the opposite.

Me: Yes.

I think Portland andSF are actually more similar to each other than Seattle.

Seattle still have a large blue collar population.

King County is only 8% Blue Collar:

San Francisco County is about 5.5% Blue Collar:

Its not a huge difference.

Seattle is its own.

Many of similarities to both cities, but it paves its own path. Sometimes successful, sometimes not.

It’s a larger Portland, but does have a lot of San Francisco “feel” to it.
