Factor in everything you wouldn't want in a city, whether that be weather, crime, lack of education, amenities, entertainment.etc...include the suburbs/metropolitan area and the city in your decision.

Which metro area would you least prefer to live in, out of these?

Based on those factors listed, these are the least desirable metro areas in the USA for me:
-Hartford
-Indianapolis
-Baltimore
-Las Vegas
-Detroit
-Little Rock
-Memphis.

This is in very extreme contrast to the most desirable metros in the USA for me:
New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, Portland, and Los Angeles.

I can't stand bitter cold weather, wind chills, and blizzards. The Great Lakes area & Upper Midwest seem to get the worst of it. I'm even cashing in my chips on Boston winters, too cold here.

Houston. Lived there 7 years. Awful place to live. Cheap housing, but not much else. There's a reason the COL is so low there, believe me.

You have no clue about Detroit then.

The thread was about METROS. Have you been all over metro Detroit including Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ann Arbor (I know people don't consider it a suburb, but it really is). Even as a downtown it has way more than the others (well except Las Vegas maybe).

Now if you were talking about strictly city neighborhoods? Then at least your answer would at least reflect awareness and knowledge.

To go off the last comment, I would also say that Baltimore could actually coincide with Washington DC metro area given that they are only about 45 miles apart
