The city has to have less than 500,000 people living in it..and it can be anywhere that has mountains. Personally, I choose Blackhawk and Center City, Colorado. I appreciate the historic mountain homes on the hills, and the beautiful stone buildings. Along with that, i also like the newer side to the city..the casinos are nice, and I believe they should get more reconization.
How many mountain cities are above 500K? I frankly can't think of any, unless you consider Denver a mountain city, but it really isn't. Denver sits east of the Rockies.
So we can exclude Denver, and by the same reasoning, Colorado Springs.
This opens it up to many other cities. Your choices in CO are good. Real mountain cities in the U.S. west are open to interpretation. I think we need to define what a "mountain" city is. Do you mean cities that are actually in the mountains (as in 5,000 feet or higher), or cities that are within views of mountains? I like this thread, but need more of a qualifier.

Maybe i should be more specific. (i'm sorry). It has to be a city under 500k people...so Denver and CO Springs wouldn't really qualify..(i'm actually talking Metro area) that being said, the metro cant have more than 500,000 people.
OK, how about Hailey/Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho? This area is home to many celebs, Demi Moore, Gov. Arnold, but that shouldn't make any difference. This area is ideal for both summer and winter activities.
I like Old Forge NY in the Adirondacks. I know people also like Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Lake George, Ticonderoga, Tipper Lake and even Port Henry. Blue Mountain Lake is a nice community too.
