Why did you split up the Northeast but combine the entire West Coast? Makes no sense. So the West Coast would win? Oh makes sense now.
Northeast is by far the best region in the country. The close proximity of great cities all in a line is pretty untouchable in the U.S. NYC, Philly, DC, Boston, Baltimore, Atlantic City with Pittsburgh near by and a slew of smaller cities. Hard to beat.
I didn't know the U.S.' powerhouses were defined by state-wide regions. One might imagine that even within state barriers, there's drastic differences between economies depending on region/city. One might say that as California has taken place as the 8th largest economy in the world, it's not really the whole state that's experiencing in a technology boom, is it?
Anyways, I vote the Interior South since it's not going to get any votes and a guy down the street said the Tennessee is on the verge of a tech boom.
I've lived in several regions and have visited those I haven't lived in. There is no one "best" region. Some are better than others -- the interior northwest as defined by this poll is pretty dismal -- but it boils down to a matter of personal taste.
These 'regions' don't make much sense. The "Pacific West" really should have been broken down into 4 separate regions. The Pacific NORTHwest (Washington, Oregon, and arguably the Idaho panhandle), California by itself, as it really kind of is it's own region... and then Hawaii and Alaska aren't even part of any one region, other than their own.
The OP even included the Dakotas as part of the "Interior Northwest", even though they are completely located in the Northern Great Plains, and closer to the Midwest than the Northwest.
Colorado was included in the Southwest? Not so sure about that one. Or even Utah for that matter.
And joining the Midwest up with Texas? That makes no sense to me.

Agreed. Makes no sense. Why combine the ENTIRE West Coast and add Hawaii and Alaska, which aren't even a part of the West Coast region, and then just break up the Northeast into three specific regions? When from Maine to maybe Washington D.C. or Virginia is definitely all a part of the Northeast.
The thread has? Or the poll has? This poll is completely lopsided and nonsensical. Most of these aren't even actual regions. Just some made-up clumps of states that happen to border each other (except Hawaii and Alaska, which don't border any other state). I'm not sure what the OP was trying to accomplish with this.
