Nope.

LA is probably better for mainstream music. Other than that they are even, both having the most options in the country for seeing / recording / purchasing records in a broad range of genres.

They're pretty even overall though LA owns rock music, and NYC owns hip hop and jazz.

This is probably the most even competition I've seen between LA and NYC. I don't see how anyone can't think this is a tie.

Historically, it's New York, but currently, it's definitely a toss up between the two.
