As a kid, I moved from a typical East Coast suburb to a comparable one on the West Coast. I won't reveal the cities, as I don't want to start out the thread on an argumentative note, but suffice it to say that the kids in the two cities were drastically different. Do you have any school-age anecdotes/experiences that really drive home the regional differences between the places in which you lived?
Sure. Similar experience. Moved as a kid between an at least 50% Italian NJ middle-class suburb of New York City to a largely white, but nevertheless melting pot, middle-class suburb of Los Angeles. I liked both places a lot. The NJ neighborhood experience was friendly, in a more direct in-your-face way. The LA neighborhood experience was friendly in a relaxed, uninhibited and even quirky sort of way.
