From the pics I've seen, how can anyone hate University City in Philly? You'd think with all the urban enthusiast on this site that bash and hate LA and love the NE, that University City would get more love. If someone were to argue for University city, I'd actually understand their argument, but this one time that I'd agree with them just so happens to be the the one time where people seem leery of voting for the east-coast nabe. I really do love the architecture of Westwood though. Pretty quirky and awesome.
The architecture of Westwood is very interesting. Westwood looks like a great "downtown" area and I would probably enjoy it much more than Downtown LA... however the parking garages in front of the houses have GOT TO GO.
While it does have interesting architecture (though not particularly unique for LA), Westwood does not have a lot going on other than UCLA/Westwood Village. It is definitely less interesting than DTLA to me.
These two areas are opposits. Westwood is the worst part of LA's westside (not bad, just not as good as the rest of the westside) Ucity on the other hand is the best part of what surrounds it. I would compare LA's westside to the main line and Westwood would be Narberth.
