[LEFT]A new Business First study has found that the per capita income for blacks is less than half the PCI for whites in 31 metropolitan areas.
The gap is widest in Bridgeport-Stamford, Conn., with Boise, Idaho; Portland, Maine; Salt Lake City and Miami-Fort Lauderdale close behind. (Click here for details of the study.)
Four New York metros are among the 31 with the worst disparities. Buffalo is not among them, but its gap is almost as bad. The per capita income for blacks in the Buffalo metro is 52.5 percent of the comparable figure for whites.
The database below has PCI comparisons for blacks, Hispanics and Asians against whites in 101 metros with at least half-a-million residents. If you click View Details, you’ll get more information about a given metro, including the actual per capita income figures for all racial groups.
[LEFT]The typical income for an Asian resident of Portland, Maine, is 48.8 percent of the per capita income for whites, which is the largest margin in that racial category. Greensboro, El Paso, Omaha and Minneapolis-St. Paul are the runners-up on the negative side.
But there is one difference between Asians and the other two minority groups included in Business First’s study. Asians actually outearn whites in 21 markets, with the biggest of these reverse gaps occurring in Youngstown, Ohio. The per capita income for Asian residents of Youngstown is $41,787, which is 176.5 percent of the white PCI of $23,678.
Asians also have a large edge in Knoxville, Tenn.; Little Rock; Toledo; Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; Louisville; Pittsburgh and Buffalo.
Atlanta does pretty good in comparison to most cities as I suspected. Still it's ashamed that blacks make around 50% of white income in most metros in the U.S. But what's really sad is the average american white household has 15 times as much wealth as the average black household.

Look at McAllen-Edimbourg-Mission (Texas), blacks are impressive there
Minneapolis has many somali immigrants, they're very poor and non-educated, they have many kids too. It's not easy for Minneapolis to challenge other cities.
Houston could do better, blacks are pretty good there and nigerian immigrants are well-educated !
