Figured if they redefined areas in 2013 then might as well update the population to as recent as estimates can allow.

I'll start off with all the places above 3 million. Please let me know if I missed any, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Whoa! Cleveland got a nice boost by expanding its sphere of influence to Canton, Sandusky, and New Philadelphia. If it weren't for the population decline in all of those components, Cleveland would be overtaking the Twin Cities...

Bay Area gets Stockton? Yeah, puts us ahead of Boston, but still... it's Stockton.

Thanks alot for this, valentro.

Looks like Houston will pass the 7 million mark before the end of the decade. It will also not surprise me going by trends on how metros are added that the Brazos Valley and maybe even the Golden Triangle is added to Houston in 2023. It will be ridiculous. But look at how ridiculous some of these are now.

Honestly, looking at these numbers, outside of California and maybe New England where it makes the most sense, MSA's> CSA's.

And even IN California, a lot of it doesn't make sense since county borders are drawn really weird and really large here.

How about something more realistic like, I dunno, maybe basing it off census tracts? Basing ANYTHING as arbitrary as county lines, which a state could amend whenever they feel like it or even abolish (not that they would) is really dumb.
