I've been to Milwaukee twice, St. Louis once, each one for only a couple of days. Milwaukee's downtown seemed to be a lot more vibrant, while downtown St. Louis seemed kind of a ghost town at night. Plus Milwaukee's setting on the lake is nicer than the Mississippi river.

Amenities-st. louis
Culture-milwaukee
Food-st. louis
Beer-TIE
Crime-st. louis is worst
Economy-milwaukee
Growth-milwaukee
Weather-st. louis
Location-milwaukee
Nightlife - St. Louis offers more nightlife in more settings in my opinion
Amenities - St. Louis has more amenities because it is a much larger metro
Culture - St. Louis is a lot more unique, Milwaukee might as well be Buffalo or Cleveland
Food - Tie whichever you prefer
Beer - Tie both beer towns
Crime - Milwaukee is safer
Economy - St. Louis economy is much larger and diversified
Growth - Tie both are slow growth metros
Weather - St. Louis has a slightly milder climate
Location - Milwaukee is a damn near Chicago's biggest suburb
Nightlife - Milwaukee - No large city in America does casual corner bar nightlife better than Milwaukee
Amenities - Milwaukee - MKE has a better parks system and is a bit more walkable than St. Louis
Culture - Milwaukee - Tons of cultural festivals throughout the year, and while segregated, has many pockets of different ethnic neighborhoods. Art Museum is impressive and gallery scene is pretty strong.
Food - St. Louis - More diverse and unique. It almost seems that there is a St. Louis-style everything.
Beer - Milwaukee - Both have a pretty strong craft brew scene, for me Pabst+Miller>Bud+Busch
Crime - Milwaukee - MKE has its share of rough areas, but overall is not as bad as STL.
Economy - St. Louis - Both cities have been losing jobs at a pretty sharp rate, but I'll give the edge to STL here, as it can draw off of a larger metro area.
Growth - St. Louis - definitely higher growth rate in STL metro over MKE metro
Weather - Milwaukee - Summers are typically a bit cooler in MKE, whereas they are absolutely brutal in STL. Both cities have horrible winters.
Location - Milwaukee - Wisconsin is a more scenic, more culturally rich state. Chicago 1.5 hours south is a nice plus as well.
7-3 in favor of Milwaukee. Both cities are nice mid-size cities, but I guess I prefer Milwaukee over St. Louis. Both are pretty good sports towns as well.

I disagree quite a bit on most of what you said here, but I almost died when you mentioned their craft beer scenes and than followed it up with "Pabst+Miller>Bud+Busch" I seriously wonder about your info on these cities....

I read that to mean that the cities have equal craft brewing scenes and that the writer prefers Pabst & Miller to Bud & Busch.
