How do does Tampa compare to Miami as far as being friendly? (life, people)

Let me share with you my philosophy of life. People are the same everywhere. You are going to find what you are looking for. If you look for rude people that is what you will find. So look for nice people.

Exactly! I never knew why people think midwesterners are so nice, lol, at least in the city they are pretty rude up here. Now you go into the country and the burbs and attitudes change a little toward the better

That works only if you are a cave dweller.. some of us have to serve the community if different ways, and we do NOT have a choice of who we encounter as it is the general public. Again -just don't yell at me, throw things, curse and act like I am less than you, and we shall get along splendidly. I can say, at least once a week, I must defend my turf or a coworkers. Your money, age, education or status means nothing to me when you need my assistance, so leave it at the main door, and I don't p/t at a bar.

Mixed bag. I am finding wonderful, wonderful people in the medical facilities. Far superior to up north.

Drivers here are horrible, lot's of finger waving and horns.

Neighbors are not the waving type for the most part. The neighbors in NC were always waving and hanging out talking. People are super active here, but I rarely see groups of people talking. Usually just individuals doing their own things.

I'd say more people wave in my 'hood than not. Overall I don't find people rude here.

In response to the OP's question, we have never been to Miami, but we've been to Tampa a few times and enjoyed the company of everyone we met there. It seemed like a very friendly city. We got lost once and actually had a good time chatting with folks who were waiting in line for an office to open so they could renew their drivers' licenses. We just saw people standing around and asked for directions and were pleasantly surprised at the cool conversation and laughs we ended up having. Pretty unexpected place to have fun, huh?

Tiny, I'm a Midwesterner and I want to say that I'm sorry you've encountered some very rude and hurtful people from this direction. I'm sorry they went out of their way to make you feel inferior and ruin your day. Just know that the majority of us aren't like that. We may not say, "Ma'am" when we answer someone, but most of us have manners and show respect toward others.

the % is most people are friendly and cordial.., to a point, they just NOT inviting as in SFL. there one starts a BBQ and the whole neighborhood is there before its over.
