I like both these city cores equally. So I choose equal. Oops not a poll choice. On calling someone a homer out of the blue for another post? If one themselves is a homer as seen by others on C-D. Why point fingers? Leave it just pass over you as many will be homers in these forums, but they give you reason to post with your opinions. I wouldn't want Chicago or Atlanta mentioned and brought in this debate.

Man, it’s amazing how far the Seaport has come in the last 6 years. Here’s a recent picture from a similar vantage point and not as zoomed in:

They are close in this regard...I can see how someone could favor San Fran but this is close....these videos downtown but you get similar vibrancy boylston/newbury back bay, fenway, north end, esplanade, seaport (finally), and other neighborhoods in urban core

While I think he is incorrect about Downtown in General. Boston doesn’t have the same concentrated “Main Street” that San Francisco has in Market Street.

I went to both cities within a few weeks of each other. San Francisco felt much more “alive” and more buzzing with activity. It makes sense because SF is denser in terms of population than Boston.

Can I ask what time of year? San Fran does have an advantage in maintaining same level of
vibrancy throughout the year..these cities do have similar vibrancy in core overall - if advantage to San Fran it’s not huge

Boston is vibrant in winter/early spring but I’d give San Fran definite edge this time of year

Did you experience areas like this ?

Take any photos? I haven’t gotten out to SF yet, but I know Boston certainly buzzes on nice days in the summer and fall. It’d be cool to see a visual representation of the difference.

San Fran is very vibrant in core areas...I’d give it a year round edge but very similar to Boston in late spring, summer, fall

Yeah. Just go to Union Square, or Market Street. Also Fisherman's Warf, the Castro

SF maintains its vibrancy even in non-downtown areas like Sunset, Richmond. Mattapan, Roxbury, Hyde Park in Boston are not vibrant at all.
