Something a little different...I have been an avid dance music lover seemingly forever. I planned to put this post in the Radio section, but thought it would be more fun to put it in the City vs. City section.
How has dance music been presented on your city's radio stations throughout the years whether through regular airplay or mixshows? If you have links or airchecks, please post them too. I'll start with Phoenix:
Bill's Records & DJ Jeff K, two of Dallas' legendary Dance Music supporters. Bill's is known as one of the largest & oldest vinyl record shops still in existence in this country today. You name it, he has several copies of it no matter how old or rare.
Freestyle aka Latin Freestyle also was/is HUGELY popular in Dallas during the late 80's, 90's, & 2000's. Dallas was once up there with Freestyle hotbeds like NYC, Miami, Chicago, The Bay Area, & Los Angeles.
DJ Felony was from Dallas & is now in Los Angeles on Power 106 FM going by the moniker DJ Felly Fel.
You bring up a great point about the Edge in Dallas. It was on 94.5 then. I actually spent a few years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area during the mid-late 80's and had the opportunity to visit the Starck Club.
HOUSTON
Houston was a hotbed for dance music during the late 80's-early 90's with the success of dance clubs like Club 6400 (Houston's answer to the Starck Club), Ocean Club, Decadance, and others...). Here's some airchecks from earlier years. I'll try to find more later.

Thanks for all the links.
Unfortunately, Edgeclub 102 was taken to the chopping block by Clear Channel Communications several years back. DJ Merritt was the guy who took over after Jeff K left & moved to Los Angeles in the mid 90's.
Clear Channel said the music they were playing wasn't "mainstream" enough for its target audience so they switched up the format a little & cut the normal 10 PM -3 AM mix show in half. Sadly, it didn't last much longer after that...2008-ish maybe? All in all it ran a good 16+ years.
Detroit needs representation here, techno has its roots there......
Most songs I remember from the 90s were mixed live on air. There was a lot of genre blending and a lot of remixes. At the time, I was a kid and never really thought of it as techno or anything genre specific. The music was basically as gritty as the city and so it seemed to fit the city pretty well.
The only song I can specifically remember at the moment is this one. It was very popular during the 90s and came up in a lot of remixes as far as I remember.
