I firmly believe Houston is the best city, but I want to know what others think. Included is a general list of cities that have significant populations.

Rank the cities in terms of it's...

-Cost of living
-People's friendliness
-Job market
-Public transportation
-Weather
-Recreation/sports
-Natural beauty

Am I somehow missing your "...general list of cities that have significant populations"?

Miami. Tropical climate and beautiful ocean trumps all.

Houston would be nowhere near my list of #1. Outside of good job market, I can't really think of any reason why it would be near the top.

And even for job market, there are better cities.

There is no number one city in the US. Its all based on personal preference.

If you take weather out of the equation, Chicago would be my number one city. However the weather in Chicago is so putrid that it wouldn't be my actual number one. With weather in the mix Los Angeles, but it goes out the window with cost of living. Factor in cost of living with weather, I prefer Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta.

Aren't the more desirable places going to have a higher cost of living? Supply and demand?
