Savannah should be a much bigger metro than it is. It's getting there, slowly ... thankfully.

I always thought Seattle or Miami. They command great-sized economies. Seattle and Miami both have a bigger economy than Phoenix, yet Phoenix is bigger than them. It's one of those "wtf?" moments.

DC...Capital to the greatest country in the world.

It should be there with Tokyo, Beijing, and London. Too many idiot transplants hold it back. They get real vocal whenever it takes a step in that direction.

The founding fathers erred in how they set it up.

DC metro should be bigger, but DC proper is probably as big as it should be.

I would say Jacksonville could have more people, specially since it has the most land in lower 48.

Pittsburgh is lacking on population, but I think will buffer than problem soon enough as it is becoming very urban and cosmopolitan.

Boston should have more people for the significant history it has.

Detroit should be a lot bigger, but when you take away a cities bread and butter (mass industry) you tend to see decline.

Both my hometown Charleston, WV and Charleston SC should be bigger. WV because it has no competitors, SC because it is a really cool city.

Capitals like Moscow or Beijing annexed most of the metro area.

Not only that, but those cities have been around for a very long time, giving them time to develop and bring more people.

If DC is going to grow into your dream capital with its dream population, you just can't rely on city-proper growth. They're going to have to annex the entire metro. For all we know, the Baltimore and DC metros might fully merge in the future and then you can also annex Baltimore. Next thing you know, you have a city capital that's like Beijing or Moscow.

DC shouldn't be bigger than it is when compared to other world capitals because those cities are also the financial and cultural capitals of their countries also. No way in the world DC was going to displace NYC on those fronts.
