What is the link between Boston and Philadelphia? This all seems a bit random and...... Citydata-ish.

Yes, pretty random but Boston and Philly share a similar history and are only 20 more miles further apart than are Dallas and Houston.

Pittsburgh/Philly vs Houston/Dallas would've been cool though since each pair is in the same state.

Architecture - more diversity in BOS/PHL
Mass transit - umm really
Road/highway infrastructure - goota be DFW/HOU
Parks - BOS/PHL seem more mature but know them better
Culture - BOS/PHL more and more mature
Food - If pushed will say BOS/PHL PHL slighlty better than HOU and BOS better than DFW - though do love Tex-Mex
Things to do - On the whole goota go with BOS/PHL both have a lot
Economies - Growing DFW/HOU - both are very significant
Music - Hmm probably BOS/PHL
Sport venues - dunno no NHL in Houston so will say BOS/PHL
Education - Easy - BOS/PHL
Weather - subjective Winters HOU/DFW Summer BOS/PHL
History - seriously?
Importance - Edge today on BOS/HOU - gap closing fast
Where would you rather visit? BOS/PHL
Where would you rather live? BOS/PHL

most are subjective though - I prefer the NE personally

Weird combined comparison. Boston is on a higher level than any of the other cities except perhaps in the minds of the people on this board.

I am prejudiced. I love older historic cities with superb museums, historic districts, fountains and monuments and statues, Ivy League universities, world class symphonies and live theaters, gorgeous botanic gardens, etc.

Therefore I vote for Boston/Philadelphia in every category except Road/highway infrastructure and weather.
