I agree that Washington, DC should probably replace Atlanta. But otherwise, I agree with the list.

Los Angeles and San Francisco are very powerful city brands, especially in Asia I've noticed. One has to give credit where credit is due.

I would go as far as saying DC has more recognition/brand than Chicago as well.

In terms of U.S. cities, it should go like this in terms of recognition/brand

1. NYC
2. LA
3. DC
4. SF
5. Chicago
6. Miami
7. Vegas
9. Rough tie between Boston, Philly, Dallas, Houston and Atlanta

That looks about right though I would switch Chicago for Miami.

Los Angeles has Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Malibu and California as brands too. Hollister for instance relies on that strong L.A/SoCal brand. I am not surprised it is above New York. Doesn't mean L.A is more popular than NYC in the world though.

I'm not buying that Atlanta has a more recognizable brand than Miami or Washington.

I agree...NYC should be number 1 and DC and Boston should be on the list far above Atlanta.

Now that's just outright ridiculous. No way those cities have a more recognizable brand than Atlanta; heck, it would almost be a stretch to say they have a brand to begin with.
