You know. People who think their careers and degrees make them more valuable than the average person. They're oblivious of the daily struggles and lifestyles of ordinary Americans. They work for government contractors, tech firms, financial firms, and startups.

San Francisco.

Especially based off this board (and in real life!).

Washington DC. Based off of living there most of my life. That's one of the reasons why I left. I couldn't take it anymore.

San Francisco.

*****hole capital of the United States, even worse than the west side of L.A., Miami, or Washington, D.C.

San Francisco. Nice place to visit but the people are the rudest I have ever encountered.

I don't think working for the government makes you a snob, you may be very career driven, but not a snob. I would say more those who work for financial firms, or tech geeks are more snobby than anything. Either way the title of this thread has a slightly negative connotation, no surprise for C-D. The four metros listed are the most successful and wealthy in the U.S.

Sometimes, reading the thread title, you can almost predict how the thread would end. In this case, bad.

There are no manufacturing jobs left in Silicon Valley, but there are plenty of middle class jobs, and a few lower class jobs that pay next to nothing (relative to the cost of living). Engineering and lower management jobs command 1%-world class salaries, but they are converted by the high cost of real estate and taxes into middle class salaries and life styles.

Silicon Valley 1% does well by ignoring the needs / reality of the lower 99% in the valley, let alone the world.

Predatory capitalists in Blue Jeans and sneakers. Fact.

You don't know many tech workers apparently. Tech workers are some of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet. That is because anyone in tech, and who is successful really is a geek and love technology. So people in tech see the money as more of a bonus. Tech workers aren't very status driven.

The same can't be said for government workers. I can't believe you could ever call a government worker less snobby than tech. You need to be very arrogant to have a career in government.

With that said, DC is the most arrogant, and snobby city on the list. Far and away more snobby than any city mentioned. SF has it's snobbery too, but DC is in another league.
