My little metro of 500,000 people has three Fortune 500 companies, including the Fortune #1.

Seattle may only have 9, but take a look at that top 3:

19 Costco
34 Microsoft
35 Amazon.com

Those are quite the major players. Only two other cities, NY and SF, have more than three Top 40 companies. Pretty good!

What exactly is so great about those 3?

EDIT: Is it just because you have heard of them and they aren't some obscure defense manufacturer, pharmaceutical company or some kind of banking firm? Because they sell / make products every-day-people have? And isn't this whole thing a list of major players, ranked in the order of how major they are? Why just top 40? Just because Seattle happens to have 3 companies? Seems arbitrary. Boston has more companies than Seattle in the top 146! And Seattle doesn't "have more than three Top 40 companies".

Great work. I suppose when I have more time I can help with the mid-major metros.

You forgot Fort Worth and Saint Paul when listing the names of metro areas.

Woah, totally didn't expect someone to flip out over my simple compliment. Lol.

Right, but can you answer the questions? I was actually just messing with you, but I am curious. And what exactly was the compliment?
