Philadelphia has long transitioned into a service-based, knowledge economy -- like the rest of the nation. In fact, the Philly metro has a slightly greater white-collar jobs base (on a percentage basis, not only raw numbers) than Atlanta.

I think it's safe to say you've never stepped foot in the Philly suburbs, since that couldn't be further from the truth.
LOL, I don't know why some posters think they can just make things up and talk about places they've never been to without being called out on it.

Atlanta has a larger metro in population.

What are you talking about?Same way people get to work. Most go bay car and others go by MARTA and such.
I just went to the SummerFest in Virginia Highlands today.By MARTA.

I would say, if you were planning on moving into the city then you should move to philly. If you were planning on moving in to the suburbs though then you should consider weighing in your likes / dislikes like weather, old money, cookie cutter mcmansions, being in a part of a big citiy in an ecosystem of other big cities, etc.

It's virtually a tie between ATL and Philly for a black professional, but if you're a country boy like me, you'd feel more at home in Atlanta. Most of those northern cities are great places to visit, but I wouldn't fit in with the culture up there.
