This is like the other one except I feel this is a better comparison. I was on a competiter site [Richmond Neighborhoods (pics)] and the photos and comments were interesting. There was one guy from Savannah saying how it sort of looks like his town, some said that it kind of sort of favors parts of Baltimore but there were more DC comparisons. Personally, Richmond looks like a cross between St. Louis and DC.

I'd call it a smaller Baltimore. When I was there I noticed alot of similarites, particularly the Mid-Atlantic urban style rowhouses in certain sections and it has an industrial look also.

I agree. Richmond feels grittier than DC, especially in downtown. However, the housing feels similar to neighborhoods in DC. I've always felt it's closer to Baltimore (without the port) than either DC or Savannah.

I agree with you on the on the neighborhoods. I was emailed some nice picture in addition to looking at ssc and no intown neighborhood would look out of place in the other city. Of course Richmond tried to copy DC with the confederate capitol thing and the fact that Savannah lacks a neighborhood that can fit in either city...it seems more in line with DC to me.

Mutiny, I really don't know much about Richmond but I am educating myself on it. I probably should have said that it tried to imitate DC's role as a capital.
