NYC I believe is evenly split between African Americans and Caribbean with a sizeable West African population as well. Boston too has a sizeable 1st and 2nd generation Black immigrant population, both African and Caribbean.
Meawhile, Miami/Fort Lauderdale has a huge Caribbean population, DC has the largest Ethiopian population while smaller centers like Minneapolis and Seattle have sizeable Somali populations.
Would be interested seeing some stats on FB populations and the size of various immigrant and ethnic communities.
Miami, New York, Atlanta, and DC come to mind. All have large Caribbean, African born, and African American populations.
I would not categorize Seattle and Minneapolis here. They have large Ethiopian and (Minneapolis has) Somali populations. But I would not call them cultural centers for African Americans much less Caribbeans.
NYC. About 1/3 of Blacks are foreign-born, and about the same amount declare West Indian ancestry. This may be an undercount though as I'd think that given that the overwhelming majority of foreign born Blacks come from the Caribbean, 1st and 2nd West Indians would be larger than the foreign born population. No numbers for Africans.
NYC as others have noted has a huge Caribbean, AA, and African presence.
Atlanta has a lot of Jamaicans and surprisingly a growing Haitian population as well.
The Boston metro almost has as many Caribbean's and Africans as it has AAs. Not to mention we have Cape Verdeans, who aren't really found outside of New England. Check out the cities of Brockton, Randolph, Lawrence (are we counting Dominicans?), and the Southern neighborhoods of Boston.
Philly has a smaller portion of Africans and Caribbean but they're there none the less.
D.C. is a magnet for immigration from Africa and it's no longer slouching on the Caribbean population either. I'm assuming everyone on this thread knows that DC has historically been an African-American stronghold.
I can't speak to the West or South but I'm assuming Houston is diverse as well. I know that it has a lot of Nigerians and I have family that live around that way, as well.

If we are going to include Houston, we might as well include Dallas/DFW as well. Houston has a larger Nigerian population, but Dallas has a very large African population of its own that is way more diverse than Houston's, with Africans from many different countries besides just Nigeria, but at the same time a very large Nigerian population of its own. Also, the Caribbean community is pretty large here in Dallas, especially Jamaicans. And even the Fort Worth side of the metro has a lot of East African immigrants.

I would love for you to explain that? Miami is such a niche place and nearly a quarter of Africans are foreign born. However, you can toss Miami right out the window when you look at the raw numbers. In my opinion diverse would also mean a large presence of African American culture too.
I know a little about this topic and I would say: NYC, DC, ATL, Philly, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis. These are the places were African immigrants begin their journey of joining our culture.
I can really on speak in specifics for Philly but this is the type of thing that separates the boys to the men: About AFRICOM-PHILLY
The number of Africans has been really growing in our area over the past decade or so. Immigration in general here has been growing a lot.
