I'm a social liberal and fiscal conservative. I don't want to pay high taxes. But I don't want to pay any taxes to states that believe in government intervention in your private life. Or want to legalize discrimination against people you don't like.

So I thought I'd update this old thread since we finally made a decision. It may have come 4th in the poll but we have a bought a home near Sacramento. When compared to the other places it had the best all around positives.
  • Best Weather
  • Good Schools
  • Blue State
  • Near Tahoe/San Francisco

It was probably the most expensive option and it might prove a little conservative for our tastes, we will see. In the end the weather and still being in California is what made up our minds.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Thanks, Rocklin.

I know it's not technically Sacramento. The original post was about the metro areas rather than the cities themselves.

Nice! Good schools, good shopping, very close to Folsom Lake, Sacramento and Auburn
