Here's the stats before you start basing it on the name if the city lol. Baltimore 185 murders for a rate of 29.7 per 100k as of July 29. St. Louis 109 murders for a rate of 34 per 100k as of July 26th. Detroit 153 murders for a rate of 22.2 as of July 2nd (sorry couldn't find anything more recent). New Orleans 110 murders for a rate of 29.1 as of July 27.
St Louis as of 7/28/15 is already at 111. This is almost a 100% increase in the past 2 years.
Total for entire years:
2014: 159
2013: 120
2012: 113
2011: 115
There were some guys on tv talking about these statistics. They said usually when there is a record high in homicides the Police Chief, the Mayor and the Judges are all pointing fingers accusing each other for all the killings. And because there were so many that year that the next year would automatically see a drop in the murder rate because of the law of averages and that they would each take credit for the decrease the following year. Looking at those statistics, it looks like it's going to be another finger pointing year.
Chicago has like 1/6th the murder rate of the cities listed above....Not even close to the murder capital of the US (based on per capita population)....
Since you seem to have a bit of a fascination with this I'm curious if you have any updated MSA figures? These are what really matter and it affects the results a lot; St. Louis for example tends to vanish pretty far in the rankings when looking at MSA levels. I'm curious how the murder spike in the last two years has affected this though.

Imo it dosent matter about MSA'S because if you live in the city of St.Louis then this is what matters.

As a city resident, it does matter with perception and real estate prices when based on what people think on the outside.
I dont feel any more danger here than i did in other cities. Going to work shopping and doing everyday things I actually feel safer than I did living in Chicago by a long shot.
The city of St. Louis encompassing so much of the regions poverty makes a big difference in statistics. If we would measure 20 miles in each direction from the downtown area stats would be different.

No offense but I'm really tired of people like you , how would that even be accurate then ? Your basically just saying "oh lets count the burbs so it doesn't look that bad" ... The city limits of St Louis has a crime problem. That's just what it is.
