All the people that claim "NOLA is a dump besides the tourist areas" don't know anything about NOLA except Bourbon St....
In a way it kind of is. I'm not generalizing that every single ward in New Orleans is ghetto, but having been to New Orleans as well as knowing people who lived in The Magnolia Projects. It's pretty terrifying. Especially hearing gun shots that are right near you. San Antonio doesn't compare to the level of violence and crime that takes place in The Cresent City. But I still love New Orleans, just wouldn't live there.
San Antonio, or Texas in general is filled with illegal, drug trafficking Mexican immigrants. New Orleans has better food, culture, amenities, soul, and more friendly people compared to the state of Texas in general. When I look at Texas, i just think of it being a part of Mexico and it doesn't even look like its in America when looking at it on television. It looks like Mexico which isn't a good think. Everything about New Orleans beats living and residing in Texas. Again, what is San Antonio known for? What is any city in Texas known for? I'll wait.......

Definitely San Antonio. Louisiana is one of the most dangerous states to live in and to me, New Orleans is a quite a dumpy city. I totally agree with TwinbrookNine ... no comparison. Even though overall they rate comparable in crime, NO had 183 murders in 2012 compared to 83 in SA in the same year. SA is mostly Hispanic, NO is mostly black if that matters to you. NO is too hurricane prone as well.
