I've spent time in both. There is zero comparison in all categories
Denver handily crushes down Wichita with a clean sweep.

The one category I would give to Wichita over Denver is the friendliness and genuine nature of people.

And know somethin'? Sometimes that single category trumps all.

Be the above as it may, I will still advise you to run in the other direction of Wichita as fast as you can.

Denver/Aurora/Boulder metro area has 3.2 million people. The Witchita metro area has 650,000.

If nightlife and city amenities are what you are after, there is frankly no comparison.

I find the people to be quite different. I lived in Kansas for 5 years and could never quite get used to the Midwestern rhythm of life. Denver is a far more active place. I found that summer recreation almost exclusively seemed to consist of "going to the lake". Didn't seem to matter where I was, there was always a lake and that was what people did. There aren't any real lakes in Denver.

Winter recreation was an oxymoron. In Denver people are out and active year round. Partially because of the mountains and partially because the weather is so much more conducive to being outside. Lack of humidity makes a big difference.

A point of clarification: all lakes in Kansas are reservoirs, meaning no naturally occurring lakes there either. You have to go to the Upper Midwest to find real lakes.

Sure, but they are large compared to anything in the Denver area. I was speaking to size, not natural vs not natural.

My only experience with Wichita was a few years ago. I desperately needed to fill up my rented Ryder truck with a certain type of gas, and had to drive all over just to find it. (In fact, I think I had to ultimately give up and go farther up the interstate). The town seemed run-down, and the people looked poor. It seemed like one of those town that had been in years of decline. Denver - in general - is opposite to all of that.

Colorado Springs vs Wichita, not Denver.

This does not belong in the Colorado subforum anyway.

But welcome to City-Data forums, newbie.
