Metros - I know it is not popular to admit this on city data, but I was not all that enamored by Nashville the last time I was there.
I wasn't impressed with Indianapolis although it's such a "bigger and better city."
Quote:
Nightlife - I have had fun in Nashville and Indianapolis.
It was peaceful while I was in Indianapolis
Culture - What does this mean on the city data this week? I can never keep track of the groupthink.

Shopping - If you are into generica shopping malls, Nashville wins. If malls are not your thing, I don't feel like there is a clear winner.
Indianapolis has the same malls, so you didn't even have to comment on it.

Dining - Nashville has a Rainforest Cafe so..........
Nobody eats there.
Quote:
Scenery / Outdoor activities - Indiana has a lot of offerings. Southern Indiana is very underrated.
Nashville by a wide margin.
Quote:
Crime rate - TN is known for having a higher crime rate than most states. Check the stats.
Hmmm there's this place called Gary, you ever heard of it? Indianapolis is not crime free.
Quote:
Economy - Nashville and Indianapolis have both been performing well. The entire state, do people really worry about that in the real world or is this still one of those city data things?
Educated people are always concerned about the economy
Quote:
Mass transit - Yes, NW Indiana has rail into Chicago. Yes, Nashville has that one train line. That is it. Nobody wins.
People - What does this mean on the city data this week? I can never keep track of the groupthink.
Weather - this is subjective. No conclusion of value will come from this.
Quality of Life - same as above
And the winner is ............................ anyone who chose not to open this thread

....? That would be a chain. And not a tasty one, either. The food isn't even the attraction there. I got stuck at a couple different Rainforest Cafes in the Orlando area last year, and while the setting was fun for kids, I can't tell the difference between their food and Chilis or Applebee's or whatever other horror show mass-chain you want to throw out there. It was more expensive, sure. But just as bland.

The same goes for Cheeseburger Paradise, talk about substandard food.
There are many areas that Indiana trumps Tennessee
Could you name and explain those areas?

but overall this poll is highly subjective.
That is true. If you prefer the rural Midwestern vibe of Indiana then you will choose Indiana. If you prefer the country Southern vibe of Tennessee then you will choose Tennessee, whether or not you think they "truly and deservedly" are better.

I am guilty of thinking "throwing out a bland tourist driven chain" would easily be discerned as "that is not serious commentary".
I think Indiana overall has a better education structure. Tennessee is very middle of the road.
