Mustard, Chili, slaw, and onions. Though some might leave off the mustard. I'm not sure how they do it down in South Carolina... but if you go to any reputable place up here in NC and say you want a hot dog all the way... that's what you get.

Not really a hotdog person, but since I moved to Chicago, I have to say I do like a good Chicago hotdog. The condiments work really well and are flavorful!

Some of these other hotdogs look good too!

I've had the Chicago Dog before..thought it was a weird combination, but it was ok... except for those peppers

Most of the places make their own chili.... so ground beef. There are probably a few places that use the canned stuff... but I try to avoid those places.

Another thing I forgot to say... here in NC there are two different types of slaw.. white slaw or red slaw.. depending on what part of the state, and where you get your hot dogs from. If you go to a bbq place for a hot dog in the Piedmont... you will get the red slaw. Non BBQ places and restaurants in the Eastern part of the state.. you get the white slaw.

I thought mustard was what they put in the barbecue sauce in South Carolina.

(Speaking of barbecue, I grew up on KC Q, natch, but I also like the Eastern NC sauce that's vinegar-based and used on pulled pork to great effect.)

I prefer Eastern, but I live in Lexington Style (Western) territory.

I usually ask for no mayo when I order. It's called the LA Street Dog in LA, and I usually have a jalapeño with it, yum

Seattle style baby - cream cheese and grilled onions after a night out drinking in Capitol Hill or Belltown. Really hits the spot.
