Knoxville is developing an identity as an Urban Wilderness, which is kind of at odds with the zoom-zoom growth model. Leave that for Chattanooga and its Urbanist Utopia vision.

Well they are in greater Appalachia so there's an argument to be made that they are on that basis.

LOL, If you are basing it on that criteria, then Atlanta should be "upper south", it is higher ASL that both Huntsville and Chattanooga, and, all of the northern suburbs are in Appalachia as well.

Seems like Appalachian Cities....or close to the mountain cities list.....Knoxville stands out to me though.....I haven't heard of a lot of those cities..

And Atlanta is sometimes classified as such, being in the Piedmont. It's really where the Deep South meets the Upper South in many ways.

He was saying that based on the criteria that I referenced, Atlanta would be included also. He wasn't saying that Atlanta is Upper South and the other two aren't.
