The standard of living in the Palo Alto scores so highly that it occupies it's own category called The Top 1% of California. LMAO.
In fact, the top 4 areas in the state are all in the Bay Area and they totally coincide with that Washington Post report about the most elite clusters of zip codes. 2 subregions of the San Jose Area and 2 subregions of the Oakland Area.
^That. Is. Prestige.
Not Kim K walking down Robertson with paparazzi taking pics.
No, if others dont back up anything they say expect to say 'well, most people think..."--THAT, IS STUPID.
It is plain as day, based on the moving habits of grads from the best schools and based on where the focal point of investment and global business largess where the best and brightest from around the world are flocking to at this time and guess what, between SF and LA, it's SF. By a mile.
In fact, not only is SF booming in prestige and desirability for decades now, during the same time period and continuing now, LA has been in a directionless economic rut for 40 years , like a used tampon that hasnt been changed since 1970, no wonder theyre irritable.
And you people think due to Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber, LA is more prestigious than the Bay Area?????
I check this every day and things like this really cause me to balk at even the suggestion that LA could be more prestigious as a place of business than the Bay Area.

I'm pretty confident I can say tourists don't get their LA and Miami experiences from Straight Outta Compton and Scarface, you are welcome to shed light on it otherwise though.
no offense meant; some of my favorite muzik and moo-vees come from those time periods and areas so i think oi them with that nostalgia.
...
What about Cal Tech? Stanford is the most prestigious university outside of the Northeast and UC Berkeley is the best public university in the world.
i'm an east coaster so i have no idea where cal-tech/stanford are in relation to la or san fran.
cal tech seems to be the mit of the west coast. and stanford seems to be the duke blue devils of the west coast since they are good at basketball/football as well as academics.
also, thousands of hours of silly cat videos and millions of followers of obnoxious celebrity tweets is not prestigious.

disagree. Cal Tech is a fraction of the size as the other top engineering schools and still is less prestigious.
In the meantime, the record sale price for a house in California remains a $117.5 Million mansion in Woodside.
In fact, only 6 homes in the entire country have sold for $100 Million+, 2 in the NY Area, 2 in the Bay Area, 1 in Montana and 1 in Southern CA.
