You're confusing important with powerful. It's all subjective but the question is which city is the most powerful, meaning influential. It's certainly not Phoenix. In fact, I bet you that most would say Sacramento before Phoenix. Why? Sac is the capital of California. Shoot, some can argue San Jose/Silicon Valley is more powerful considering all the influential companies headquartered there. Is Phoenix more important than San Jose or Sacramento? Probably. Most influential? Hell no.

From a network and cable tv viewpoint, it's probably Portland. Currently, more scripted tv shows are either set ans/or filmed in Portland than any of the other cities.

This one's been done.

https://www.city-data.com/forum/city-...-4th-city.html

Denver led the argument the entire way, with Phoenix and San Diego nearly splitting votes for second. Portland worked as a darkhorse argument, but still a distant 4th behind Denver, Phoenix, and San Diego.

Isn't this thread completely different though? Because SF, LA & SEA disappearing from earth is the basis of this thread. Denver & PHX are correct choices for your thread, but in a thread where SF & LA suddenly don't exist anymore... I would imagine some CA cities (SD & Sac) would be jumping the line quite a bit just based on location and the state that they are in.

Oh, okay, where do they go and for how long are they gone?

According to the OP the entire West Coast either falls into the Pacific (for some reason SD, Sacto & Portland are spared from this though lol) or China makes a West Coast land grab because apparently the real world is similar to the board game RISK.

LOL, so the West Coast falls into the ocean, but San Diego, which is adjacent to the Pacific (not to mention 120 miles south of Los Angeles) doesn't go with it but Seattle, which is tucked a bit more interior into Washington and only connected to the Pacific somewhat distantly by the narrow Pudget Sound is gone?

What?

Pretty much

As for the Chinese military, apparently the People's Republic can circumvent the rules from the board game RISK because everyone knows the only way to get to North America from the Far East is through Alaska via Kamchatka!
