I posted this map on the NYC forum, but it pertains to the whole country. You can see when and where a shooting occurred in your neighborhood. My old block in the West Bronx and two deadly shootings in the past year. It's a really small block too. That block needs serious help. One was gang related.

But i'm just appalled at Chicago , literally thousands of shootings, centered around the Garfield Park neighborhood.

How does your street, block, neighborhood etc fare?

Well, I live in one of the most dangerous small cities in America (Wilmington, DE), so the shooting map is littered with pins. That said, all of the shootings involve the drug trade, and are confined to essentially 4 or 5 neighborhoods. "Murder Town USA" is really a tale of two cities--one rich, law-abiding and safe, and another poor, lawless and dangerous. My current neighborhood is one of those safe neighborhoods, though I do work near a 'hotspot'. Like many cities, Wilmington is fairly segregated, and it often comes down to 'block-to-block'.

There have been 7 shootings within a 1-mile radius of this point in the past year, 1 fatal and 6 non-fatal. The closest shooting was 0.78 miles away.

My current and former addresses in Chicago:

Current: 2 shootings in past year, 1 fatal
Prior: 13 shootings in past year, 3 fatal
Prior: 4 shootings in past year, 1 fatal

I tried to do the Loop, but the map is all screwed up. It says 37 shootings, but they're all listed as south side incidents. I don't think within a mile of the Loop would have seen many at all.

MY Incorporated Suburb with roughly 340,000 people has a murder rate of 3.2/100,000 and 11 murders so far this year. Their are 2 main areas Northside- 140,000 people 13 shootings 1 Accidental, (lower middle class side with a few upper middle class), Southside 200,000 people, 11 shootings 1 accidental, 1 self defense(solid middle class with lots of upper middle class) Usually the Northside is more dangerous but this year it isn't really that dangerous especially to compare to the Southside which is usually a lot safer, overall the Houston area has seen an increase in murders by a lot due to Houston jumping nearly 100 murders from last year this year. I will be working with all the other suburbs so we can finally see which (unincorporated) suburb is the safest this year.
Katy- 3.2/100,000 murders
7.0/100,000 shootings
Northside-3.5/100,000 (gun) murders
7.9/100,000 shooting victims
Southside- 3.0/100,000 (gun) murders
6.5/100,000 shooting victims
*Warning Population might be 30,000 to high or to low as area is unincorporated and constantly growing.

On the other hand Sunnyside which is considered the most dangerous neighborhood in Houston, has 9 murders in an area of between 2,500-3,500 people for a homicide rate ranging from 360/100,000 to 260/100,000 it also had a shooting victim rate 600/100,000 to 430/100,000

Okay.. this thread was started two days before.. but there was a fatal shooting on the 13th of December, and I heard the gunshots from a block away.

There was another shooting on January 1st, that one I did not witness. The victim also died. According to the map though, only 1 non-fatal shooting occured and zero fatal. Of course, like I said, probably out of date. UNT police officer fatally shoots ax-wielding student near campus | | Dallas Morning News
