I am not saying their Dangerous on a South Oak Cliff or SW Houston level, just saying their "dangerous" compared to the Dallas Suburbs, my point is trying to say although LA might be less their murder rates are quite similar. I expect a +or - 2/100,000 discrepancy, not trying to make this places seem scary, that is why I said compared to Dallas suburbs their rough, and I even mentioned the rough areas of Mesquite, Garland and Arlington which if you been you will know isn't very rough at all.

But it doesn't matter.

I live in la city. If I go to a suburb it's somewhere close. I'm guessing most Angeleno do cause of traffic.
And outside of Compton (which is 25 miles from me)
The closer burbs are safe as it gets

I have no reason to go to Compton. Most dont.

Grew up in Torrance. Went to Compton once for a school field trip. That was it.

You could easily say the same about Dallas, their is absolutely no reason for many to enter the dangerous neighborhoods of Dallas, my point is that in general murder wise Greater LA and DFW compare quite nicely, most U.S cities compare nicely in general, about the only metro that has a rate higher than 20 murders per 100,000 is New Orleans and that is because of the city completely engulfs the suburbs low murder rates. Even 10 per 100,000 is rare among U.S metroes. For example Boston is probably the safest Metro in the U.S but even then it is probably only 2 murders per 100,000 safer than LA, Dallas and other cities.

Well my point is if you live in the city, it matters more because it's your city.
The suburbs don't matter as much.
If my neighborhood in city was violent it would be a problem.

Put it another way...

Detroit has a ton of crime. Suburbs are some of the best. But it doesn't change the fact Detroit is dangerous.
So I don't understand the metro comparison.

I get your point but even then Dallas as a city would be easier to break down by hood, those stats on the first page aren't uniform across the city and really only apply to the 50% or 60% or so of Dallas that is "Dangerous" the other 50% or 40% of the city is almost as safe as some of the suburbs and Far North Dallas especially around the Park Cities is pretty nice.

North Dallas is super desirable, high end, and completely safe. Right next to DT Dallas as well. Nobody's trying to live in Oakcliff.

I wouldn't say North Dallas is completely safe because some of the worst crime rates are in North Dallas. Oak Cliff is way too big to say that "nobody's trying to live in Oak Cliff". Oak Cliff by far is the largest section of Dallas. There are safe areas in Oak Cliff and there are bad ones like in any large section of a city. You can't generalize the whole areas as being crime ridden when it's not.

Pleasant Grove is worse than Oak Cliff to me. In fact, oak Cliff gets a bad rap honestly.
