You should also keep in mind that the county is 501 sq miles and most of the neighborhoods are much safer then anything you can find in DC with the exception of upper NW. BTW NE DC is not as diverse as you might think. Some parts have diversity, but most of NE is still AA and many of the neighborhoods still have a tremendous amount of crime in them. I live in NE DC and I deal with it every day.
What part of NE are you in? Just curious because I used to work in NE and while crime is still bad in some parts, they're literally throwing up upscale condos and restaurants every corner. Obviously NE isn't developing as rapidly as NW but it's still a pretty safe bet.

Near Rhode Island Ave. I understand that there are upscale condos and restaurants being built. I have some near my neighborhood. But it's certainly not all over the place. It's really areas of NE that are close to downtown. You do understand that NE has 3 sections right? There is Near NE, Far NE and Greater NE. It really depends on which part you live in. All I'm saying is NE is either too expensive and I can't afford it. Or I can afford but it's too dangerous.

NE Washington DC - A Map and Guide

I mean there are still plenty of areas in NE DC that you wouldn't want to live in. NE DC is way more than just, H Street, Brookland, NOMA and Michigan Park. You still have to be very careful about where you decide to purchase a home. I keep trying to tell people that Gentrification in DC is very uneven and it's definitely not as wide spread as you might think. Many areas of the city have barely been touched.
