The OP said that you wouldn't be able to leave the Metropolitan Area for the chosen city. So in this case, picking a city based off of the proximity of other cities doesn't make any sense.

Which is a pretty silly and unrealistic condition.

I would choose Baltimore. Proximity to the harbour, great seafood. Also has a casino like Detroit (Jacks Casino used to be called the Horseshoe). Generally cool to mild winters. Beautiful suburbs and architecture. Excellent medical facilities.
$10 Million is more than enough to not be "stuck" anywhere. I'd choose Baltimore. I like the historic housing stock, harbor and tied nicely into the rest of the Bos-Wash megalopolis. I could see myself with a home in Fells Point, a Striper 27 foot twin-outboard walkaround within walking distance, a ski cabin up in Maine, and a lengthy list of travel destinations. I'd probably still do some consulting work so Baltimore's location would be ideal.

The DC MSA isn't part of Metropolitan Baltimore. For all intents and purposes, you're inviting in something that Baltimore has nothing to due with, and by doing so, Baltimore gets lost, and another city becomes the focal point. And if that's the case, then no need to post in the thread since the city that you prefer isn't an option.

I have not a clue what you're talking about.

The fact of the matter is that proximity to DC and the other cities along the eastern seaboard does play a role in why people chose to live in Baltimore in real life. Sorry if that makes you upset but it just is what it is.

No worries, I don't get upset often, and certainly not about something that is false. I don't know if it has ever occurred to people on City Data, but people actually like Baltimore. Our tourism bears that fact, the Baltimore area's population growth bears that fact, job growth also bears that fact: for instance, march 2016 Baltimore's job growth was 5th in the nation behind NYC, LA , Philly, and Chicago. I don't know what part about Baltimore doing its thing isn't sinking in with some of you posters here. Baltimore and Detroit will be the comeback stories of the century.

Of course people like Baltimore; I actually like Baltimore. We've already touched on the fact that it gets a lot of economic spillover from DC which helps it. The fact of the matter is that as time goes on, Baltimore and DC become more and more connected. It's not a bad thing at all.

Lol.

While I do like Baltimore, I'd also be a bit worried today:

True - silly & unrealistic as it is though - it is still a condition. I doubt this is the first time you've stumbled upon a thread on City Data, City vs. City and found a silly/unrealistic condition.
