So, we have the literal meaning of "centrally located" (geographic center) and the more practical meaning (flights, commerce, rail lines, etc.). Since every place I've ever been to claims to have the best location, I thought this might be a good poll.

Which city is the most centrally located as in linking all parts of the country through its location and infrastructure? Only U.S. travel/commerce etc. counts.

I'm inclined to say DFW.

In some ways it’s how you interpret the question. What has more influence-corporations, government, or popular culture? How you view that would influence your answer. I picked Chicago for its balance of being actually centrally located, having serious rail and air infrastructure while having corporate and cultural clout.

I don't know if Philadelphia would be my choice but I would have at least put it on the poll as it's a major city nestled neatly between arguably the world's most important city (NYC) and the seat of US political power (DC). Easy access to both cities (and Baltimore and other NEC cities) in myriad ways as well as virtually touching three states (PA, DE, NJ) with several others in striking distance.

Good point, I’ll see if I can edit the poll.

Due to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and their THOUSANDS of flights everywhere gives Atlanta a leg up here, in my opinion.
